Planning trips is something I enjoy doing and I am either looking out for a new destination or helping people out with their trips. I usually plan group trips for people but that has been across Europe mostly. Moving to Nigeria has made me meet some of the most amazing people who have followed my past trips and have demanded that I start planning trips across Africa. So our first official trip in Africa starting with Nigeria was to La Campagne Tropicana Resort. This I can say is one of the most beautiful places in Lagos and can pass for the Bahamas. The palm trees are really amazing to look at and the water is blue!!. It’s an ideal location to spend honeymoons or a day out with a group.
Our day started out a bit rough. It had rained a night before and the weather forecast had predicted that it will rain all day on Saturday from 8am. I still decided that we still go for our trip. As at 8am there was no sign of rain falling which was good. We had planned to leave our meeting point by 9:30am because it’s a 2 hour journey from Lekki. We didn’t leave for La Campagne Tropicana until 11am..LOL. The journey to La Campagne Tropicana was smooth and there was no traffic so we got there for like 12:30am.
It was a busy day at the resort and cars were still coming in by the time we got there , this made us feel like we weren’t late to start our day. Payment was then made at the reception and then we drove into the resort. The car with all the food was allowed in while everyone else went into the shuttle bus. As we stepped down from the bus we were welcomed by some ladies saying EKAABO OO with some hand movement made followed by a courtesy. The resort has this African vibe going on so everything is done the African way including the sign posts.
We booked a Cabana and then set up ready to have an amazing time. Everyone was so hungry so we decided to eat first and then relax.
Our first activity was kayaking which was the highlight of most peoples day. You actually get to kayak on a lake that basically doesn’t have an end. So you can kayak as far as you want which is so cool but yeah they still keep an eye on you. Some people were brave enough to go alone while some decided to go in twos. There are some things the average Nigerian wouldn’t think of doing like Kayaking so it was so exciting and relaxing. It’s also a very good exercise for your arm. By the end of the day we had some people that didn’t want to leave.
The rest of the day was spent playing fun games like Egg and spoon race, sack race, tug of war , table tennis, board games and a lot of horse riding . We were mainly in teams which made it more competitive and allowed for people to bond more.
TIPS FOR PLANNIING YOUR OWN TRIP
- Call the resort before you visit to be sure about rates and opening times: http://lacampagnetropicana.com/
- Get there very early so you get to partake in a lot of activities
- It’s nicer to spend the night. You get to enjoy the bonfire and fully enjoy the resort because there’s so much to do
- If you are going for the day. I advise you take your food along because the food at the resort is quite expensive.
